Most of us think of our desks as just a place to put the computer, store books and papers. The amount of space you have available, and the layout of your office will determine the size and type of desk you use. Part-time telecommuters may prefer mobile carts, whilst full-time telecommuters desire larger work areas. Your desk can reflect your own sense of décor: hi-tech, traditional or old-fashioned.
Mobile or compact computer carts are ideal when space is at a premium. If you are an occasional telecommuter this could be the ideal solution for you. The cart is available where you need it and can also be tucked out of the way when not in use. Mobility and the ability to adjust a cart make these a wise choice.
An L-shaped desk is a great solution when you are using part of another room for your office area. The L-shape provides you with space for your computer and also workspace for doing other paperwork. This layout can also make it possible for more than one person to use the workspace at the same time.
A corner desk is another workstation that makes the best use of sharing space in a room. While not as spacious as an L-Shaped desk, it is a good solution for one telecommuter. Corner desks normally have some built-in storage space. Many corner desks have co-ordinated accessories that you can purchase that will tie all the furniture pieces together.
Many of us still prefer the look and feel of traditional styled desks. Now roll top desks and other classic styles are available in sizes that make it easy to fit your computer and other pieces of equipment on the desk. Make sure that you have taken measurements and know how much space you will require before purchasing your desk.
