Question: Will my cell phone explode if I use it while it is being charged?
How dangerous is it to use my cell phone while it is plugged in and charging? I've received emails from friends that warn how dangerous it is to use a cell phone while plugged into an electrical outlet. Should I be concerned?
Answer: I think we've all received the email referenced in this question once or twice in the past few years. After reading it the first time, I spent a bit of time researching whether this was true.

I personally have used my cell phone while it is plugged in and charging. I do make sure that my cell is plugged into a surge protector and never directly into an outlet. In all the years I've had a cell phone I haven't had any mishaps nor heard of any outside the email. Any other reports I found regarding cell phones exploding or causing fires have been from about four or five years ago.
I advise everyone to use common sense, make sure you are using compatible batteries and power supplies with your cell phone model and always be sure to use a surge protector - especially when traveling.
