At What Speeds Do You Connect When You Use This Set-up?

From Catherine Roseberry, for About.com

Question: At What Speeds Do You Connect When You Use This Set-up?
Answer: Provided that you have a cell phone that is capable of handling the fastest speed standards of the cell phone network you are using, you may find the connection speed to be close to comparable of high speed Internet access, similar to a direct high speed connection to your laptop.
There are users that report that connection speeds are no faster than dial-up Internet access. This though may be due to the fact they are using older cell phones which do not have the capability to take advantage of newer cell phone technologies or they may have an older laptop that by virtue of its age and processing speeds cannot handle anything faster.
Not all cell phone service providers have the same technologies available to their networks or even the same coverage areas for the newer speeds. Try to find a Bluetooth enabled cell phone that is can take advantage of the newer speed technologies but still use the older which are still in use.
