Laptop Users by Type of Usage

Which User Type Describes You?

From Catherine Roseberry, for About.com

You can make your time using a laptop more comfortable when you understand what laptop user type you are. Setting up a work area will depend on how often and where you use your laptop most often.
  • Rarely use a laptop – use a PDA or cell phone/PDA combo.
  • Occasional use – rely on a desktop and use a laptop for notes during meetings or only when traveling.

Mobile professionals who rarely or occasionally use a laptop face fewer ergonomic problems than power laptop users. Using a laptop desk can help keep you working safely and comfortably wherever you happen to use your laptop.

  • Power use – use only your laptop.

Power laptop users need to ensure that their work area is set up so their laptop is at a comfortable height for viewing the display and using an external keyboard and mouse while in their home office will help them be more comfortable.
