Guide Review - Gateway® E-155C Tablet PC
The evaluation E-155c I received was loaded with Windows Vista Ultimate and an 80 GB hard drive.
Some of the more interesting features of this Tablet PC that I liked and was that the biometric fingerprint reader and hot keys were located on the display frame rather than the keyboard area. When using the E-155c in tablet mode it is makes sense to have these functions available on the display rather than the keyboard.
Hot key functions:
First button - option to lock computer, switch users, log off, change passwords, start task manager or shut down completely.
Second button - changes how the screen is displayed - when using in tablet mode.
Third button quick access to mobility center settings.
Fourth button turns off/on Wi-Fi.
Another interesting feature is that the display can be turned left or right. This makes it very convenient for sharing your display or depending on your space confines, you can easily switch to tablet mode from laptop mode.
When using the E-155c in notebook mode the keyboard will be the feature that will be liked or not liked by users. I personally found the keyboard just the right size and it was very comfortable to use. Granted my hands are on the small size, so anyone with larger hands may find it frustrating to use the keyboard on a regular basis. Whats important to remember is that with a laptop/Tablet PC this size, the keyboard will be smaller and it will take time to adjust to using it.
The stylus is nicely designed and comfortable to use. It's not a super thin stylus but feels like a regular pen. It even has an eraser tip.
Battery life was about what I'd expect, approximately 4 hours on a full charge. Using applications such as Wi-Fi does drain the battery quicker.
Overall, the E-155C Tablet PC is a well designed tablet and should suit anyone who needs tablet and notebook functionality while on the road.
