While on business trips or attending conferences, there may not always be multiple Internet connections available for all participants to take advantage of. Using a Wireless Access Point/Router you can share Internet access with co-workers during meetings or conferences in locations where there is just one Internet connection such as a hotel or conference centre. This will work in locations which offer Internet access connections through an Ethernet connection.

Here's How:
- Connect your laptop to the locations Internet service. You must establish a connection in order to gather information for later use.
- Collect technical specifications of the connection. Use Ipconfig/all in Win XP & 2000. Winipcfg in Win98.
- Information to Record: Physical address / IP address / Subnet Mask / Default Gateway / DHCP server / DNS servers
- Start up the Wi-Fi AP/Router and change the laptop connection over to it.
- Open AP/Router configuration screen. The manual for it will provide the IP address and log-in info.
- Find the screen to change the wired connection information collected above. Check under Advanced or WAN.
- Enter the following information for IP address / Subnet Mask / Default gateway / DNS server / DHCP server.
- Save changes and re-start the Wi-Fi AP/Router.
- Disconnect laptop from AP/Router and connect AP/Router directly to Internet service.
- Connect your laptop to the AP/Router and connect to the Internet.
- You can now share Internet access with other laptops or handhelds using the Wi-Fi AP/Router.
Tips:
- Do not change any information in the WLAN or Wireless tabs of the AP configuration screens.
