Guide Review - Seagate USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive
The Seagate Portable Hard Drive I received for review was the 100GB capacity unit. Initially I thought what will I do with all this storage space? With the work I do that involves databases and creating presentations I found it was a great advantage having a portable drive this size.
It's quick and easy to set-up, no problems with my laptop or desktop recognizing the drive and installing the correct driver. A item I found quite handy was the fact that the USB cable is a "Y" cable. If your laptop doesn't seem to provide enough power with just one connecter, there is an additional connecter to provide additional power for the portable hard drive. While most newer laptop computers should have no problems with this, some older models such as mine should take advantage of the extra power ability.
The portable hard drive comes with software that enables a user to partition or erase partitions as needed. This was handy for keeping my different projects organized.
I really liked that I could save direct to the portable hard drive from either computer and no longer worry about having to ensure that my files are in sync. In addition, I can now work without worrying about always have a connection between the desktop and laptop to access the data.
For mobile professionals who aren't comfortable keeping all their data on their laptops such as those in the Legal, Insurance or Medical fields, this portable hard drive is an excellent investment and will certainly prove it's worth quickly.
