BlackBerry Prayer - Terms referring to using a BlackBerry during meetings

RIM
Question: What is the BlackBerry Prayer?

I heard some people talking about using the BlackBerry prayer and had no idea what they were talking about, can you help?

Answer:

The BlackBerry prayer is a term which describes a person who is discreetly or not very discreetly checking their BlackBerry for emails during meetings or other public functions.

I would caution BlackBerry users to be careful that they demonstrate proper respect to others around them and withhold from checking their BlackBerries during meetings, when they should be paying full attention to what is being said there. It can be very distracting for other participants if you are using your BlackBerry at this time.

Remote workers in particular should always exercise caution when using their BlackBerry - you never know who is watching and how well they are paying attention to you. You also don't want to make a poor impression on people who haven't seen you or don't work with you often.
