Guide Review - Fujitsu ScanSnap FI- 5110EOX2 Document Scanner
I received the Fujitsu ScanSnap FI- 5110EOX2 Color Image Scanner which included the following software: Adobe® Acrobat® 7.0 Standard, PFU CardMinder v2.0, ScanSnap Organizer v1.0 and a version of ABBYY FineReader® specifically for the ScanSnap.
As with any new gadget be sure to read the instructions first. The instructions state clearly that you must install the software first before connecting the scanner. The documentation provided with the ScanSnap is quite good.
Adjusting to not being able to scan from a program was a bit of an adjustment, but with the software provided I was able to work efficiently and get great results.
I found that a direct connection is best, rather than through a USB hub. Once setup and running with my laptop I was able to see how quickly this scanner works. I do a lot of scanning, most of the scanning I do requires being able to scan double sided and working with both graphics and text. I also scan a variety of items which are not standard size, but with the carrier sheet I had no problems. I liked that I could scan business cards and get them organized without a lot of fuss on my part.
The ScanSnap takes up very little space when in use and there is an optional carrying bag to keep it protected while on the road.
If you need a good way to tame paper while on the road yet have an easy way to distribute documents, the ScanSnap is certainly a wise choice for mobile professionals. It should be on your list of mobile accessories to have.
