The Lexie Barnes Echo 13 laptop bag is fun looking and you have a choice of three different exterior fabrics.
- Viona - green background with orange flowers
- Baja - Black background with rose, white and grey flowers
- Bali Hai - blue background with orange, yellow and green flowers
The colors available are all quite bright and cheery and aren't what you might expect to see on a laptop bag, they almost look like large pouch handbags. They are a casual style laptop bag with a distinctive look to them.
The Echo 13 that I reviewed had the Bali Hai fabric. It's very bright and cheerful looking. My MacBook fit snugly in the bag and I was able to put the power cord in the exterior zipped pocket with no problems. The file pocket was able to fit a few files. I also placed a couple files within the main compartment.
I really liked the rubberized fabric that this laptop bag is constructed from, as it keeps water (rain or snow) out and away from the laptop.
I did find myself wishing there were some internal pouches or slot pockets for smaller gadgets and accessories. Even a couple pen loops or a place for business cards would be handy and well used.
The shoulder strap is easy to adjust and fits nicely, there is not any noticeable swing, even when moving quickly. While some may not consider that a factor worth worrying about; imagine having to walk any distance especially in a hurry with a laptop bouncing on your hip. It's not very comfortable and finding laptop bags with shoulder straps that have the right balance isn't always easy. The Echo 13 design has done a great job in that regard.
The carry handles are also comfortable. They are canvas based with an overlay of the exterior fabric which makes gripping it more comfortable. The carry handles don't dig in or make your hand feel tired as some hard molded handles have a tendency to do.
