If you want something that is just a little different from traditional black neoprene sleeves and has more character then the zippered laptop sleeves at electricbaby will definitely fit the bill.

Guide Review - electricbaby Zippered Laptop Sleeve
The zippered laptop sleeve that I reviewed was the Parskid Artist Series. It has a whimsical design on the outside and fit my MacBook well. There are also cord bags available in matching designs.
The dual zippers are very sturdy and if you need to grab a disk that's inside you don't have to open the entire sleeve. You can open just one end.
The exterior is plush vinyl which is easy to keep clean and allows for protection against bumps and is somewhat moisture resistant. I wouldn't go out into a rain storm or heavy snowfall with just the sleeve.
The interior is black with another image and is almost like a well brushed velour. Your laptop won't get scratched inside. The zippered sleeve is nicely padded and yet isn't heavy to carry even with a laptop inside.
An advantage to using a laptop sleeve is that you don't have to carry your entire laptop bag everywhere you go. Keep the essentials inside the sleeve and you can work between locations easily.
If you plan to use the electricbaby zippered laptop sleeve on its own be warned there is no carrying handle or way to attach a strap. So you will have one arm tied up with it at all times.
The only other item I noticed and wished were a bit bigger is the flap for holding disks and folders, it's not a complete length of the sleeve but just a section and if you have more than one disk or folders more than 1/4" you will be better off putting the folder alongside the laptop and not trying to use the flap.
Overall this is a well designed and very unique looking zippered laptop sleeve. Women may be more drawn to the designs and patterns than guys, so these would be great gifts for women.
