Guide Review - Case Logic 13-14" Laptop Sleeve
February 6, 2011 - I received several Case Logic cases for review recently (yes, it was a happy day), and the one that caught my eye first was this laptop sleeve. It's feminine without being girly, simple yet offers thoughtful features you won't find in more basic sleeves.
For example: there's a hidden pocket in the front where you can stash your phone, a thin wallet, or other accessories or even valuables (I didn't see the pocket at first until closer inspection). The padded handles at the top of the sleeve are stiff yet comfortable. And the padding all around on this quilted sleeve should give you some laptop protection peace of mind -- it's like wrapping your laptop in a lightweight comforter before sticking it in a larger bag or carrying it on its own.
My favorite detail about the sleeve, though, is the lining. The interior of the laptop sleeve, as well as that of the hidden pocket, is lined in a bright abstract pattern that mirrors the subdued accent on the front of the sleeve. That punch of color and the modern pattern (it reminds me of a line drawing of many flowers, or maybe a rock garden) brighten my day whenever I take my laptop out of the sleeve. Sometimes it's the little things that make a difference.
I like the burgandy-wine color with the purplish-pink lining, but the light gray one I received is also elegant, but perhaps a bit more cool and techie. Because the sleeve is pretty understated, it would fit well in a professional setting.
It's hard to find fault with the sleeve. The front pocket doesn't really fit bulky items like your power charger, but it also wasn't designed for such, being a slim sleeve and all. It would be nice if Case Logic would add a removable shoulder strap in future versions of this laptop sleeve for even more carrying versatility, but other than that, I think this is an elegant laptop sleeve that looks good on its own but can also protect your laptop in your favorite bag.
