Guide Review - IOGEAR Wireless Hot-Spot Finder 802.11b/g
Upon receiving the IOGear Wireless Hot Spot Finder, I attached it to my keychain. It made sense to keep it handy and there is no sense digging through my laptop bag to find it. I soon removed it from my keychain as the casing on the unit seemed to be getting banged up from coming into contact with the keys. I don't even have a large keychain. The casing should be much stronger and be able to take bumping and rubbing against keys or other items. It will fit easily into a pocket or you can put it on its own lanyard to keep handy.
Luckily that was the only aspect of this Hot Spot Finder I wasn't thrilled with. There are some great features in this little accessory and it certainly comes in handy.
Staying in hotels with wireless access doens't always guarantee that you will have a strong signal. Using the IOGEAR Wireless Hot-Spot Finder at a hotel recently I was able to find the area in my room where the wireless signal was strongest and it wasn't in the closet. I was able to arrange my laptop comfortably and work without having to worry about losing the wireless signal.
Another nice feature with this wireless locator is that you have 4 LEDs which indicate the signal strenth. It doens't just let you know that there is a signal present but how strong the signal is.
You don't even need to start your laptop only to find the signal, just press the button on the IOGEAR Wireless Hot-Spot Finder and you'll know where the signal is and the strength. It couldn't be easier.
