Fire Tips for Working at Home

Print these tips and remember that in order for them to be effective, you should review them each month to prevent any fire hazards from occurring.

• Do you have a fire escape plan?
• Is the plan practiced regularly?
• Do you have a meeting place that others can find your or where your family will gather in case of fire?
• Do you complete regular backups of your data and store those backups offsite?
• Do you have a fire proof filing cabinet or safe for documents and software disks?
• Do you have two ways out of all areas?
• Do you know how to "stop, drop and roll" if your clothes catch fire?
• Do you know that you should crawl low under smoke to safety in the event of fire and dense smoke?
• Do you check regularly for fire hazards?
• Does your home have at least one smoke alarm on every level?
• Are the smoke alarms tested regularly in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations?
• Do you have an adequate multi-purpose fire extinguisher available?
• Do you know how to use it properly?
