Is it possible to have a Certificate of Registration (CBP 4457) completed at an airport prior to departure? What is the best method for getting this form completed?
While it may seem to make more sense and be a time saver to have your CBP 4457 signed by a Customs and Border Protection official at an airport prior to your departure, this may not be the case in most instances.
First you have to locate a CBP official and then if they are doing nothing else, find a location for them to review your mobile gear that you are registering and then sign the form for you. In an airport, the CBP's first priority is not completing paperwork such as Certificate of Registrations (CBP 4457). You may not be the only person wishing to have this form signed and completed so you could spend time waiting.
The best advice is to go to a main CBP office, and complete the form there. Remember your CBP 4457 is good for the time that you own the mobile gear registered on it and so long as the form remains legible.
