Rules for Using Your Cell Phone While in a Vehicle

When you must use your cell phone while in a vehicle

From Catherine Roseberry, for About.com

The most important rule to remember is to never use a cell phone when driving. It is dangerous and puts not only yourself but everyone else on the road at risk. You need to focus on the road and not a cell phone conversation.

If you absolutely have to use your cell phone while on the road, keep these safety tips in mind:

  • Let your passenger handle phone calls
  • Use message taking services or integrated answering systems and call back later
  • Let someone else drive while you make or receive calls
  • Pull over and stop your vehicle - ensuring that you are in a safe place before using your cell phone.
