Definition: A bay in a laptop is the space in the frame where you can install internal drives, perhipherals or a battery.<br> Some laptops have dual purpose bays which allow you to swap the floppy or CD ROM for an extra battery.
Examples: My Compaq has a dual purpose bay which enables me to use an extra battery in the floppy drive bay.
