You will be spending a great deal of time in your home office and it makes sense to get the correct equipment. If you get the right furnishings for your telecommuting arrangement, you will find that you work better. Your home office is your chance to make sure that you have the tools and equipment you need to be comfortable and you can be more particular about colours and styles.
Chairs
Your chair is probably the most important piece of furniture you will have. You'll be spending a lot of time in it, so it only makes sense to buy a well-made chair. Buying a chair that doesn't suit you or your work style will cause you pain. Don't be afraid to try out a variety of chairs to get a feel for what will be the most comfortable. Cheap chairs will need replacing more often than more expensive ones.
Workstation/Desk
Your desk is the next most important piece of furniture in your office. A desk that is too small will result in disorganisation of your work. The type of space you have available will determine the style of desk you get. You need to decide if you will have a fixed office area or require a mobile workstation. Your computer and other equipment will require space in addition to space for paperwork.
Storage
We don't always think about what storage we'll need beyond a filing cabinet. Shelves, bins and racks are all excellent storage solutions. Will you have items that require special handling? Do some items need to be kept out of direct sunlight? There are storage containers available that can be co-ordinated with other office equipment, so you aren't stuck with plain vanilla colour selections.
Organizers
Will you use a paper-based system or something more high tech? What will be the most convenient for you and how often will you actually use an organiser? Making the right choice of an organiser will help you stay on track and work more efficiently.
