Definition: This was formerly known as IEEE 1394 and was developed by Apple Computer and Texas Instruments. It is a method of connecting up to 63 devices in a daisy chain configuration and transmits up to 400 megabits per second (1394a) and 800 mbps (1394b).<br> Firewire can support plug and play and hot plugging technology.
