How To Make Your Folders Private in WinXP

Mobile users should get into the habit of making folders private in their mobile devices. This bit of security could save you problems if your device is lost or stolen. Take the time to make sure your folders are secure and less appealing to hackers.

Here's How:

  1. Open My Computer and Double-click the drive where the folders are located. This can your hard disk, floppy disk, zip disk or CD.
  2. If the contents of the drive are hidden, under System Tasks, click Show the contents of this drive.
  3. Double-click the Documents and Settings folder.
  4. Double-click your user folder.
  5. Right-click any folder in your user profile
  6. Then click Properties.
  7. On the Sharing tab, select the Make this folder private so that only I have access to it check box.
