Windows 8 Pro image: Microsoft
If you've been on the fence about upgrading to Windows 8, the time to stop dillydallying is now. Microsoft's limited-time, three-month promotional offer for a $39.99 upgrade to Windows 8 Pro is ending soon. If you miss that offer and want to upgrade on or after February 1st, that price will jump to $199.99.
The $39.99 deal--and $70 in Windows 8 app offers--ends on January 31st.
After that, you'll pay five times more to upgrade from Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7 to Windows 8 Pro.
There are cheaper upgrade editions, as you see in this Windows upgrade pricing list, but all of them also have higher prices in January than this $39.99 offer. There are only a few weeks until January 31st to take advantage of the free Windows Media Center download as well (soon it will be $9.99).
What are you waiting for? If you' ve been meaning to upgrade to Windows 8, now is the time (assuming your computer can run Windows 8). It's really got a lot to offer, even if you don't have a touchscreen PC.
