Wi-Fi in the Sky

Friday December 7, 2007
News - If you're interested in having the potential for limited e-mail and messaging capabilities while in flight; then JetBlue may be the carrier of choice. It has been announced that JetBlue Airways Corp. has will be offering passengers the ability to use e-mail and Yahoo messaging while in the air. You won't be allowed to be connected during take-off and landing but the time in between can be used to send/receive e-mails or message co-workers. You still won't be able to surf the Internet or use attachments with your e-mail as the bandwidth is limited.

Rather than using cellular signals, JetBlue has available a wireless spectrum that will be used. It is an interesting step towards enabling passengers to stay connected while in-flight but how popular will it really be?

If you could use your e-mail (no attachments involved) or use Yahoo messaging while in-flight - would you? Is this type of service really a benefit to helping you stay in touch? Let us know what you think and if you would use this service.
