Daylight Saving Time Fixes

Thursday February 22, 2007
News - While using my MacBook the other day, I was prompted to download and install a fix for the change to Daylight Saving Time. It was interesting that on the Mac, I didn't have to go searching for an update or have to configure anything. Just download and install. Couldn't be any easier. If you don't have your Mac notebook set for automatic updates here's how to manually check for software updates.

I'd almost forgotten that this year we will change our clocks three weeks earlier and have an extra week later in the fall. March 11, 2007 is the day when we should change our clocks and we'll now fall back on November 4, 2007.

For Windows based products it isn't as easy to update and for some products such as PDAs and Smartphones you have to carefully follow the instructions so that you install the fix correctly.

Ensure that you don't miss any appointments or deadlines and use the following fixes to make sure your mobile gear is on time.

Because a Windows 2000 patch isn’t available and a number of my clients needed one in mixed environments with other Operating Systems, I developed an unofficial fix that may be of potential use.

Considering the potential impact of this year’s time change on key systems and how important it is for everyone to update, I’ve now made the complete script source code available.

Best wishes.
