Code-name Project Fusion – New Method of Online Storage

Gadget News - Maxtor Corp. and Fabrik Inc. have worked together to create a new method of online data storage. This new product which is has no official name but is code-named Project Fusion will be a large capacity hard drive which works with software to act as a personal server.
Users will be upload files of any type and enable others to access these files online. While the intention has been to create something that anyone can use, it could certainly provide benefits for mobile workers who need to share documents or even access documents remotely without having to carrying external drives or other removable media with them while traveling.
This will be an interesting product to follow and see just how easily it does work and whether it the price will put it out of reach for many mobile professionals. Maxtor has estimated the price being as high as $799 for a 500 GB model. Maxtor and Fabrik Inc. intend to have this new gadget available late in the second quarter of 2006.
